Job Context:

DM WATCH was established in 2013 under the name of Disaster Management Watch. Since its establishment, DM WATCH has been involved in research, consultancy, and training, engaging a group of young professionals with diverse backgrounds. Envisioning to contribute to the development of the society and the country as a whole, DM WATCH has been working with various partners from both the public and private sectors.

DM WATCH envisions that an informed and inclusive society tackles its current ecological, economic, cultural, social and technological development challenges responsibly for a sustainable and affluent future. Thus, its mission is to build a platform for researchers and development enthusiasts to conduct impactful researches, generate meaningful knowledge and, help its stakeholders in making informed decisions concerning development challenges. Values that DM WATCH practices include collaboration, transparency, data-driven way, excellence, and togetherness.

The organization strives for excellence in the research and consultancy services. Currently, DM WATCH has been prioritizing five practice areas—Agriculture and Natural Resources; Environment, Climate Change, Hazard and Disaster; Public Policy and Governance; Public Health and WASH; and Urban Development and Management. It consists of a pool of dedicated professionals with commendable expertise working in the aforementioned practice areas.

DM WATCH is working to contribute in the creation of a sustainable and desirable future through quality research and consultancy in partnership with government agencies, donor agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, and various academic and research institutions. Core responsibilities:

Research Communication

  • To build and maintain relationships with donors, I/NGOs, government ministries and department, media houses and other related stakeholders when and as requested.
  • To plan persuasive approaches and execute them accordingly to grab new clients and partners to do business with DM WATCH through excellent science communication services.
  • Design campaigns to target specific audiences, placing an emphasis and discipline on campaign performance to help with recommendations for future programs.

Research Event

  • Plan, design and execute the dissemination method of organizational research output /findings among the relevant stakeholders by arranging press conference, writing press release, policy brief, featured writing etc.
  • Contribute ideas for new programs, researching and recommending innovative branding techniques to disseminate organizational achievement/findings and communicate with clients, partners, guests based on the specific events (inception, seminar, press conference, webinar, workshop) to make it vigorous.

Partnership collaboration plan

  • To build and maintain solid partnerships with national and international clients
  • To develop the communication materials of the highest standards across a range of forms including online tools, publications, presentation, digital media, briefing and internal reports.
  • To adapt the communication plan to ensure that costs for materials, media, and labor are in line with the organizational budget.

Media research

  • To research on behavioral change communication, policy advocacy for in-depth understanding of the latest trend
  • To research and understand the key business challenges, partner behavior, target audiences, competitive activity, and environmental factors

Overall responsibilities:

  • Closely work with RKM (Research and Knowledge Management division) and FO (Finance and Operations) divisions to maintain effective internal communication.
  • Manage the team of CBD (communication and business development) to develop creative, consistent, and impactful contents for communicating impactful message to stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on branding support for assigned team, paying close attention to timelines.
  • Identify and present opportunities for consistency in messaging and stakeholder experience across channels from in-store signage to digital to print.
  • Develop an understanding of short- and long-term goals and planned initiatives.

Employment Status: Full time

Educational Background:

  • Masters’ degree in communication or related field. Candidates having a higher / PhD degree from a reputed institute with proven track of experiences would get preference.

Required skills:

The candidate should possess 4-5 years of experience in a position/s related to communication in reputed research consultancy firm, I/NGO’s, or other relevant organization.

The candidate, ideally, should have-

  • Demonstrated self-reliant problem-solving capacity with excellent interpersonal skills; outstanding written and oral skills; success in liaison and negotiation with prospective partners and donors; and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience dealing with donor agencies and other multi-laterals, bi-laterals, private sector, and foundations.
  • Strong negotiating and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-tasking.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

Job Location: Dhaka

Salary Range: 60,000 – 85,000 BDT
