Pin-up session with GCC local stakeholders

A pin-up session with Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) local stakeholders held on Preparing Ward Poverty Atlas and Urban Poverty Profile for 09 Cities for “Livelihoods Improvement of Urban Poor Communities Project (LIUPCP)” on 14 July 2020, at 11:30 am to 1 pm

Participants on these events are LGI officials (Secretary, Senior Town Planner, Town planner, Slum Development Officer), UNDP town team (Town Manager, Governance and Mobilization Officer, other UNDP officials) Community (Community Organizer, CDC leaders, CDC members).

This Pin-up session helped to identify the typology of the poor settlements with their characteristics, city contexts in terms of geographic location, livelihood and income opportunities in different parts of the city, demographic characteristics, and any other concern associated with the city poverty.

Activities-

  • Presenting city poverty context and urban poverty profile based on primary data analysis
  • Collecting feedback from local stakeholders on three integrated indicators, e.g. Infrastructure and
  • services, housing and land tenure, livelihood and wellbeing
  • Understanding impact of the outbreak on poor community/ poverty situation amid COVID-19 pandemic
  • Identifying CDC location in hard copy printed map
  • Discussion on way forward to cope up with the current situation
